Probe, 1991
Riffles, binocular lenses, spy glasses, variable dimensions.
Private collection
Theses camera lenses, spy glasses, binoculars and riffles are embedded in a wall. Therefore, all these objects can be seen from various point of views: front, back or sideways.
When Probe was created, it was after years of finding images which attempt to classify, and in that way are directly related to the eyeglass. The sum of all these objects in the sculpture becomes a representation of power – the power of surveillance and threat. Probe was intended as a piece that deals with physicality and confront the viewer with the raw part of the process of the “rapport de force” (balance of power).
