Maison symphonique de Montréal

Mouvements, 2011

Wood and metal studs, LED lights, electrical wire, 350 x 800 cm.

The work presented is located in the interstitial space and designed in the nine oriel window bays. In this glass space, wood and metal dowels are suspended horizontally at various heights. These dowels in the colours of wood, brass, steel and chrome symbolize various orchestra instruments: pianos, violins, woodwinds, brass and percussion.

Light emanates from these wood, brass and steel “instruments,” either by projection or reflection. This light plays on the material like a musical score, forming in the space a work that changes with the viewpoint, time of day and season.
